Suma started training in Bharathanatyam at the age of eight under the tutelage of Guru Sri Kannan. She continued her learning process under the able guidance of Rajyotsava Awardee Smt.Ambale Rajeshwari of Hassan and Vidushi Smt. Kripa Phadke of Mysore who are well known Gurus. Currently she is undergoing advanced training under the tutelage of Karnataka Kalashree Guru B.Bhanumathi of Nrithya Kala Mandiram, Bangalore. She is also undergoing training in Nattuvangam under the expert tutelage of Vidwan N.Narayanaswamy and Guru Smt.Sheela Chandrasekhar.
