About Guru B.Bhanumati

Guru B.Bhanumati started learning dance at the age of 10. She had privilege of the tutelage of greats like Padmashri K.N.DandayuthapanPillai,Padmabhushan Dr.K.Venkatalakshamma, the doyen of Mysore tradition and Padmabhushan Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan. Guru B.Bhanumathi director of Nritya Kalamandiram has been training students in Bharatanatyam for last 25 years. Bhanumati is recipient of senior fellowship of ministry of human resources development for pursuing higher levels in group choreography where she has broken new grounds in both classical content, aesthetic appeal and overall impact.The State Sangeetha Nritya Academy, in recognition of her contribution to this great performing tradition conferred her the title Karnataka Kalashree. She has received several awards like Rajyotsava award, Chanakya Kautila award and Aryabhata award, to name a few. She has done several TV productions.

About Smt. Sheela Chandrashekar

Smt. Sheela Chandrasekhar has been in the dance routine for the past over thirty years. Having trained initially under Smt. Krishnaveni of Mysore and Guru Late Sri V.S. Koushik of Sanathana Kalakshetra. She owes her advanced training in Bharatanatyam to Guru B.Bhanumati under whom she has now trained for over 20 years. On the academic front Sheela  has completed her Master’s degree in dance (Bharatanatyam) having secured first rank and Gold Medal at the Bangalore University. Further she is now visiting faculty at the Jain University Department of Dance. As a performer, Sheela has rendered over five hundred stage performances both as a solo performer and as a member of Bharatanjali, the group dance feature of Nrityakalamandiram, directed by Guru B.Bhanumati.  Sheela has performed in most of the major National Dance Festivals and for numerous Doordarshan Productions. The Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai, awarded her the “Singarmani” title .
