Flute & Feet is an innovative and harmonious fusion of music and dance, created by immensely talented husband-wife team of Vivek Krishna and Aranya Narain. Flute & feet blends Bharatanayam with melodious rendition of flute. Each rendition is choreographed to popular kritis of Carnatic music and a few exclusive compositions, and is sure delight both the traditional and modern art aficionados.
Vivek is a gifted flautist with exceptional mastery over breath and fingers to bring out the bhava rendered through different tonal qualities in flutes of varying lengths and which can be hand craft or hand picks. Embarking on musical journey at the age of 12, Vivek has traversed a long way under Guru’s like Shri.Vijay and Vidwan. H.S.Venugopal. Vivek’s love for flute was further nutured by Rasika Kala Ratna Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan in a traditional Gurukulam style.
Born into the world of Bharatanatyam, Araynya’s inspirational annual visits to Kalakshetra Chennai opened young Aranya’s mind and soul to the world of fine arts. Her innate love for dance took shape under the tutelage of her grand uncle and Guru Prof. M.R.Krishnamurthi of Kalakshiti, Bangalore at tender age of 7. Aranya holds distinction in the proficiency grade exam held by Government of Karnataka and MFA from Bharatidasan University. She is recipient of prestigious Aryabhatta young achievers award and has been a recipient Central Government scholarship and is a ‘A’ grade artist of Doordarshan, Bangalore. Apart from being an outstanding dancer Aranya is also a talented Natuvanar and sitarist having trained under the late Ustad Bale Khan.
